A: Juxtapose Fantasy is an original fiction site featuring romantic stories about men. The stories are on-going like popular soap operas and fall into several genres: fantasy (Juxtan), futuristic (Juxtapose City), mythic and angels (Angel:Reverse Heaven, Earth), contemporary (Sin City), and steampunk (Wrath World).
A: Currently, there are over one hundred stand-alone and multi-chaptered series in addition to almost seventy guest stories and contest stories. The bookstore also features more comics and books starring the JF characters.
A: Yes! To give you a taste of the storylines, a few stories in each universe are marked "free preview". You don't need a subscription to read these.
Q: How often will new stories be posted?
A: A minimum of one new story/chapter will be posted approximately every seven days. In addition, artwork and vignettes/character studies will appear from time to time.
Q: That's a lot of writing. How do you know you'll be so productive?
A: JuxtaposeFantasy has been running since September, 2002. I have never missed a week, and I sometimes post twice a week. I write full-time.
Q: What are the differences between your fiction universes?
A: Juxtan stories are based in a fantasy world. They lean towards the romantic. Juxtapose City stories are set in a slightly futuristic world and are darker and more graphic. Angel:Reverse stories are split into two worlds: Earth and Heaven. Earth is set in a modern-day setting and has a dark, horror/gothic atmosphere while Heaven is softer and more mythical. Sin City is a contemporary series featuring strong elements of D/s. Each series features a completely different set of characters and relationships.
1/10/08 update: The two Angel:Reverse storylines have just concluded, but the stories will remain on-site. A new fictional universe called "Wrath World" has just been launched. This story is a very wild steampunk romance. It is about the adventures of young men on a leadership at sea program who are drawn into another world where they become imbued with strange new powers which make them both valuable and hunted.
Q: How do you describe your writing style?
A: JF stories range from adventurous and romantic to touching and dramatic -- just like romance novels you'll find in a bookstore. The only difference is that the main characters are men. I am a strong proponant of character-driven stories and romantic anticipation. I enjoy writing angsty stories as well as hard yaoi stories (PWPs). My goal is to make these stories as exciting and entertaining as possible. I want you to finish reading a story and say, "Wow!". For the most part, every story will be heavy on the slash.
Q: Why should I pay to read your stories when there are free sites?
A: How many times have you fallen in love with a story only to have the author abandon it? At JF, that will never happen. This isn't a hobby, it's a business. Also, I can think of only two authors on the internet who update with any sort of regularity (and that's not every week). How many can you name? If you enjoy my writing style you can be assured of consistent reading material each and every week (sometimes more often than that). I wish my favorite authors could guarantee that!
